Katie Bond is privileged to represent all the “artists of the written word”—the creative, talented writers who’ve found themselves at home in Thomas Nelson’s growing fiction division.
Before coming to Thomas Nelson, Katie served as a publicist at WaterBrook Press, handling corporate communications, events, and book campaigns for authors like Liz Curtis Higgs, David Gregory, Robert Benson, and Amy Grant. She began her career at Peachtree Publishers as a publicity and marketing assistant. She holds a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, with emphasis on literary essay, Southern literature, and children’s books. She also completed the Publishing Institute, a graduate program at the University of Denver, in 2004.
She plays classical flute, but kicks up her boots to listen to the country songwriters at the Bluebird Café any chance she gets. She loves to entertain friends and family at home, and keeps up with her own nonfiction writing through freelance projects. A feisty cat named Chapter keeps Katie and her husband Bryce company at home in Nashville.
Her parents and brother still reside in her hometown of Augusta, GA.

Nashville, TN—Ami McConnell, Senior Acquisitions Editor for Thomas Nelson’s fiction division, is one of three finalists for a top industry honor, the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) 2009 Editor of the Year.
McConnell’s career at Thomas Nelson spans twelve years. She helped launch the dedicated fiction line at Thomas Nelson in 2003, then named WestBow Press.
“This is a major honor for Ami and shows what a major strength she brings to our team every day,” said Allen Arnold, Senior VP and Publisher for Fiction.
ACFW will announce the Editor of the Year during a banquet at the 2009 ACFW Conference to be held September 17 – 20 in Denver.

The RITA Award, sponsored by the Romance Writers of America, is considered the romance publishing industry’s highest award of distinction for authors, also recognizing and honoring the editors of exceptional novels. Named for the first RWA president, Rita Clay Estrada, the award honors romance fiction published in the previous year. Finalists are named in twelve categories from a submission pool of more than 1,000 novels and novellas. Winners of this year’s awards will be announced July 18, 2009 at RWA’s 29th Annual National Conference to be held in Washington, D.C.

(Nashville, TN)—Platinum-selling country recording artist Sara Evans will publish her debut novel with Thomas Nelson later this year, having signed a four-book deal with the publisher. The novel is the first in a series and will release in conjunction with a new album by Evans on RCA Records. She is currently in the studio writing and recording and will perform at various tour dates throughout 2009.

(Nashville, TN)—Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA) recently announced the nominees for the 2009 SIBA Book Awards. Among the nominees is The Wedding Machine (Thomas Nelson, 2008) by Charleston, SC author Beth Webb Hart. Romantic Times Book Reviews magazine said of The Wedding Machine, “This charming tale of family, friendship and weddings has a true Southern feel. Hart infuses her book with the right amount of humor to offset more serious moments.”
SIBA Book Award nominees are chosen by SIBA member bookstores. In the organization’s words, “These are the Southern books they have most enjoyed selling to customers; the ones that they couldn’t stop talking about; the ones most often pushed into a customer’s hands with the words ‘You have got to read this!’ The SIBA Book Award was created to recognize great books of Southern origin, as determined by people whose business it is to know great books—the independent booksellers of the South.”
Winners in six categories (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, cooking, young adult and children’s) will be named on July 4, 2009 after a jury vote.

Nashville, TN—TheSuspenseZone.com has announced the 2008 Reviewers’ Choice list of the reviewers’ top ten favorite books of the year. Four of the ten positions on the list belong to Thomas Nelson fiction titles: Adam and Sinner (both by Ted Dekker), Less than Dead by Tim Downs, and Field of Blood by Eric Wilson. All three favorite authors have new major releases in 2009: Green by Dekker; Ends of the Earth by Downs, and Haunt of Jackals by Wilson.
