Thomas Nelson and Willow Creek Join Together In Quenching Small Groups’ Thirst With Liquid

Liquid: The Ten 1-5Co-branding Agreement Entered for DVD-based Study Experience

(Nashville, Tenn) Thomas Nelson, Inc.’s Bible Group is pleased to announce that it has entered into a co-branding distribution agreement with Willow Creek Association for the Liquid curriculum series. Both entities will participate in the distribution and marketing of future releases as well as the seven installments that are currently available.

Created by Jeff Pries and John Ward of Mariners Church in Irvine, CA, Liquid is a DVD-based experience featuring five 10-minute episodes in each series offering. Building upon the parable teaching style of Jesus—who told stories using everyday characters—each  episode introduces present-day characters whose problems and struggles mirror biblical stories, illustrating that God’s word is just as true today as when it was written. Each DVD kit offers emotionally provoking videos, a reflection guide, introspective questions, and tips for facilitating a small group.

Author’s Book Nominated for Southern Fiction Award

The Wedding Machine(Nashville, TN)—Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA) recently announced the nominees for the 2009 SIBA Book Awards.  Among the nominees is The Wedding Machine (Thomas Nelson, 2008) by Charleston, SC author Beth Webb Hart.  Romantic Times Book Reviews magazine said of The Wedding Machine, “This charming tale of family, friendship and weddings has a true Southern feel. Hart infuses her book with the right amount of humor to offset more serious moments.”

SIBA Book Award nominees are chosen by SIBA member bookstores.  In the organization’s words, “These are the Southern books they have most enjoyed selling to customers; the ones that they couldn’t stop talking about; the ones most often pushed into a customer’s hands with the words ‘You have got to read this!’ The SIBA Book Award was created to recognize great books of Southern origin, as determined by people whose business it is to know great books—the independent booksellers of the South.”

Winners in six categories (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, cooking, young adult and children’s) will be named on July 4, 2009 after a jury vote.
