About the Author
Jack Hanna got his first job when he was eleven working for his family vet in Knoxville, Tennessee. He loved cleaning cages and just being around all the animals. After marrying his wife, Suzi, in 1968, they opened a pet shop in Knoxville, but he always knew he wanted to work at a zoo. He worked at the Central Florida Zoo from 1973-1975. Then he became the Executive Director at the Columbus Zoo from 1978 until 1992, where he is now Director Emeritus because his media appearances take up so much time. He has made regular appearances on many shows including Good Morning America, Larry King Live, and The Late Show with David Letterman. The animals he takes on television are cared for by professionals and are ambassadors to their cousins in the wild. He also hosts a nationally syndicated series, Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures. The recently launched series, Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild, recently won a daytime Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Series. Jack and his wife live in Central Ohio and have three daughters, six grandchildren, a golden labrador and golden retriever.
