Thomas Nelson Re-Signs McGraw

#1 New York Times Best Selling Author To Expand Publishing Partnership and Brand

(Nashville, Tenn.) Thomas Nelson Publishers announces the re-signing of Robin McGraw, wife of bestselling author and television talk show host, Dr. Phil McGraw. The agreement, which extends through 2011, includes three major trade books and related products represented by Dupree, Miller and Associates. The first book, What’s Age Got To Do With It?, is set to release in January 2009 and will target the female demographic—the core of Dr. Phil’s worldwide audience, an audience with whom Robin has formed a meaningful relationship over the years.

What’s Age Got To Do With It? highlights how a woman can live her healthiest and best at any season of her life. McGraw will consult with experts in fields from medicine to makeup, skin care to hormones and challenge readers to take care of themselves first and foremost. She’ll provide personal stories and insights from her life and explore how the reader can learn from her experience.

Senior Vice President and Publisher Brian Hampton said, “We are thrilled and honored to continue our partnership with Robin McGraw. We’ve established a wonderful relationship with Robin and look forward to building her publishing brand and extending its reach through many formats.”

“I am honored to work with the Thomas Nelson team again. They represent the gold standard in publishing. I cannot imagine being at home with any other group. From editorial to marketing, sales to overall brand development, they are dedicated to the care and craft of my words and provide an exceptional author experience,” says McGraw.

“There is an overwhelming viewer response when Robin appears with Dr. Phil on the show,” said Hampton. “Robin’s unique relationship with the audience was reinforced when Robin took to the road on a national book tour to launch her first book, Inside My Heart, and thousands of women showed their support in each market where she traveled. Women continue to embrace Robin—whether discussing her experiences as a mother and wife or dealing with issues that women face in the many phases of their lives. This support resulted in Inside My Heart debuting at #1 on the New York Times best-seller list. Truly, women connect with Robin.”

“DR. PHIL,” to which Robin has become an important contributor, has been making headlines and breaking records since its September 2002 launch, when it garnered the highest ratings of any new syndicated show since the launch of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Currently completing it sixth season in national syndication, “DR. PHIL” continues to rank as the #2 daytime talk show—and consistently ranks in the top ten of all syndicated television programs. The show is seen in 99.9% of the United States as well as 40 territories and countries around the world.
