(Nashville, Tenn.) Thomas Nelson President and CEO Michael S. Hyatt announced today that Stuart M. Bitting has accepted the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Thomas Nelson. On December 3, Bitting will succeed the post from Joe L. Powers who has held the position since 1979.

“Soon after Joe shared his retirement plans with our executive leadership team, we began an extensive search to find a world-class replacement,” said Hyatt. “With his rich financial background, strategic mindset and competitive nature, Stuart Bitting is the perfect executive to direct Thomas Nelson’s financial objectives through this period of dynamic growth.
